Wastewater and how we deal with it has never been more important
With changes to our climate and the burden on our wastewater infastructure, how we as a society deal with wastewater generated by our homes and places of work has never been more important. By using the world leading products manufactured in Germany by Otto GRAF GmbH we have the solutions for all your wastewater and drainage issues
END-TO-END
Don’t worry, We’ll Handle Everything
From on site surveys, percolation testing, system specification and design, installation, DAERA consent to discharge approval, commissioning and maintenance. We will handle it all for you.
Septic Tanks
A septic tank is an underground container that collects wastewater generated in your home or commercial facility. Using natural processes, a septic tank removes suspended solids from the wastewater — this is considered “primary wastewater treatment.”
As there is limited anaerobic digestion (a process by which microorganisms break down organic matter in the absence of oxygen), the majority of the “secondary wastewater treatment” is carried out in a percolation area — a network of sub-surface perforated pipes in stone-filled trenches that distributes final wastewater into the soil for further treatment.
Waste-water treatment
Domestic and commercial on-site wastewater treatment systems, including septic tanks, play an important role in managing wastewater in areas without access to a main sewer. These systems are designed to collect, treat, and safely dispose of wastewater generated within your household or business premises, including toilets, showers, baths, sinks, washing machines, and dishwashers.
Rainwater harvesting
Underground rainwater harvesting systems from GRAF are suitable for both domestic and commercial applications. Up to 50% of drinking water can be saved, preserving groundwater reserves and reducing the amount of water entering large wastewater treatment systems in small towns and villages.
Fire fighting storage tanks
Underground firefighting water tanks provide a reliable supply of water for extinguishing fires in an emergency. When the mains water supply is insufficient, having the correct volume of water available in a fire water storage tank is crucial for protecting people, animals, schools, hotels, hospitals, train stations, airports, forests, wind turbines, petrol stations, industrial buildings, residential areas, and other businesses in Ireland.
Stormwater Management
Local rainwater infiltration is often required by law. As more and more ground is sealed with buildings, car parks and roads, the sewer system is having to work harder and the risk of flooding increases. GRAF infiltration systems are here to help. They make sense both ecologically and economically because they take the strain off the sewer network and save surface water drainage charges.
Site and land drainage
Land drainage refers to systems designed to remove excess water from land, preventing waterlogging and promoting healthier soil conditions. This can involve various techniques like perforated pipes, gravel trenches, or geotextile-wrapped channels. It’s commonly used in agriculture, construction, and even residential gardens to manage surface water and improve soil quality
Stress-free Installations.
from start to finish
From the time a proposal is accepted by DAERA, we schedule your installation into our calendar. You will be given an installation date and guidelines of what if anything needs to be done before we arrive on site. Your tank will normally be delivered on site the day prior to our team commencing work. Our team leader will make thereself known to you by telephone the day prior of installation, they will introduce themself, check that the tank is on site and give you an indication of what time they and their crew will arrive with you. On the first day of work the existing sewer will be located and a line marked to where the new tank will be placed, a carefully dug trench will expose the pipe and the location for the new upstream inspection chamber will be decided. The main hole for the tank will then be dug. By the end of the day the tank will be in place filled with water and set in a concrete mix. Day two the connection from the existing sewer to the new chamber will be made as will be the discharge piping, )this period is the only time you will be without a toilet) all pipework will be enclosed in pea gravel and a geotextile membrane placed on top. Surrounding ground will be re-instated as close as possible as to that prior to installation. All electrics (Treatment plant) will be installed and the system run through a cycle. Graf will be informed of completeion of installation and a commissioning visit from a Graf technician will be booked. The team will leave site ensuring all surplus material, euipment etc. are removed. After commissioning you will be advised by the Graf Ireland office that you are now on their register of approved installations. Red Dog Contracts will maintain the ground around the installation for a period of 8 weeks ensuring that the area returns to its previous condition
